I would have given Growler's an "Awesome!" rating, if it would not have been for the absolutely horrible service. Stuck-up, air-headed waitresses. Terrible waitress staff with completely fake smiles and disingenuous service.
Growlers has great food, a fantastic selection of beer and a small-pub environment. However, if you want to reproduce my experience at Growlers, piss off your wife and then ask her to bring you a beer. Even the great beer and food is not worth having to deal with Growler's staff.
I guess it's probably a different story if you're a Creve Coeur local and the staff knows you, but from a St. Louis outsider's experience.... Growlers could use some improvement.

I love Growlers. The beer selection is awesome. It even has my favorite beer on tap. Their spinach artichoke dip is amazing, and I love their buy one get one free happy hour app special. Their beer at times can seem a little overpriced, but the great service I have received totally makes up for it. I'd recommend it anytime, and always bring my friends that visit from out of town to see and try it.

The bartender was too busy to serve even though I was only one of 3 people at her bar. She had personal calls to tend to. She also altered the charge on my credit card. Not good. This was the Growlers on South Lindberg. I used to like going there, but now I will never. Should never have ripped me off, or tried. Unethical!

The place was filthy. Food terrible, service terrible. The only thing they seem to know is how to buy beer. Don't waste your time.

I came in with my brother and his family and I found it to be very accomodating for children and they really tried to please everyone in our party. Very good and a lot of different types of menu items. We really enjoyed our dinners.

Outstanding selection of beer - over 30 craft taps, including three or four New Belgium brews. The service was friendly and efficient. My only complaints would be the subpar food (even their "chicken wings" tasted awful, and it's hard to screw those up), and the smoky atmosphere.

I love Growlers Pub. I have been there too many times to count and will continue to go there as often as I can. Therein lies the reason for my "good" overall review. Growlers closed their St. Charles location so the next closest one is on Olive, about 45min from my house. Also, the price of the beers is OUTRAGEOUS considering the quantity they would like you to consume (32 brands on tap, 99 in bottles). p.s. tell sean mcreynolds to move to Illinois and stay there.

Went on a Tuesday night to watch the baseball All-Star game. Since this was my maiden voyage to Growler's, I called before I went and asked if they had TV's and were showing the game. The lady said yes,we certainly are. I got there and they had 4 small (17"??) TV's above the bar and in a corner. They all had the game network on-I had to ask the bartender to change one of them to the game. Good thing I had LASIK surgery two years ago or I could not have seen the game at all. This place DOES NOT brew their own beer. The beer-nice selection of bottled beer leaning heavily toward German/Belguim tastes. About 30 taps with a variety of U.S. micros and imports-nothing extraordinary. I had a lame reuben-needed my fork and knife to eat it as it seemed to have sat around for awhile before servign. Not much ambience-seems like a local hangout but was close to my hotel. Cigar smokers have their own outside patio-the inside was smoky and not well ventilated. Return trip-after I've tried other beer bars/brewpubs in the area.

The food at this restaurant on average is good. You simply need to know what to order. The overall beer selection is impressive. Some of the beers brewed on premise have had problems but many have been exemplary not only in their overall palatability but also in their adherance to historical sylistic guidelines. At the St. Charles location, however the beer could use more carbonation. As to Sean McReynolds contention that the brewer needs lots of help, he is misinformed. As to Sean McRyenolds contention that the brewery ONLY uses homebrewers recipes, he is imisinformed. Besides, a good beer is a good beer whether it is based upon a homebrewed recipe or not. The problem I have with surveys such as Pubcrawler is that individuals like Mr. McReynolds get to portray themselves as knowledgeable when in fact he is actually parading his ignorance. If Mr. McReynolds would get off his pompous critical ass and truly attempt to learn about beer and brewing, his review might really mean something. It's apparent to me however that he does not know stout from shinola.
